The Cucumber Situation Has Escalated

A wagon completely full of freshly picked cucumbers

I need everyone to understand that this is one wagon. One. Wagon.

This turned into 5 half-gallon jars and 2 quart jars of pickles, which means I've officially moved past "growing cucumbers" and into what I can only describe as a supply chain issue. At some point a cucumber plant stops being a vegetable and starts being a decision you have to live with.

Here's the thing, though — I can actually explain this one. We planted early this year, knowing full well we might lose a few plants to a late frost. Sure enough, we lost 2. So I did what any reasonable gardener would do: I planted 6 more.

That's gardener's math. You don't lose 2 plants and replace 2 plants. You lose 2 and replace 6, because what if it happens again, and also what if it doesn't and now you just have more cucumbers, which, as it turns out, is exactly what happened.

The jars are lined up on the counter like they're proud of themselves. Honestly, they've earned it. Seven jars deep, and I regret nothing except possibly my math skills.
